- Beware of phishing scams that may be hosted on your institution’s email and/or servers.
- Ensure that all of your data is encrypted as well as password protecting access to school wifi and servers.
- Protect your devices from physical attacks and tampering e.g. locking devices in safe places when not in use.
- Proactively champion cybersecurity protocols for the school and encourage student participation in them. For example, organize cybersecurity workshops for students where they can actively learn about the threats they face online. (You can also consider proposing that applied cybersecurity be added to relevant curricula).
- Create a readily accessible database of cybersecurity resources for both children and staff, including systems where students can easily report any concerns or ask relevant questions.
- Ensure that all important data is backed up through SaaS services or similar offerings.
